Selection Procedure:- Eligible candidates will be required to appear for written test to be held in Kolkata only.


Age Relaxation:- Age limit is relaxable by 05 years for SC / ST, 03 years for OBC (Non Creamy Layer), 10 years for PWD candidates as per norms. Minimum age limit for all advertised position shall be 18 years. Relaxation for SC / ST / OBC / EC / Ex Servicemen / PWD candidates shall be allowed as per extant norms subject to maximum of 45 years considering all applicable relaxations.


Application Fee:- General and OBC candidates are required to apply paying non-refundable Application Fee of Rs. 300/- (Rupees Three Hundred only). SC / ST / EC / eligible WBPDCL Contractors’ workers & WBPDCL Departmental candidates are exempted from deposition of Application Fees. NOTE:- State Bank of India (SBI) has been authorized to collect the application fee through SBI Collect facility only. Candidates would be required to fill in some basic details like Name, Date of Birth, Position, Application No. etc before making the payment transaction. On receipt of the money the WBPDCL shall reconcile the same with SBI within a maximum time of 72 hours, after which a candidate is required to re-login and submit the Reference No. of payment transaction to obtain a copy of the system generated Application Slip issued by WBPDCL, which shall be the sole acknowledgement of application submitted. The WBPDCL shall not be responsible for any technical issues arising with deposition of application fees.

  9. Candidates applying as ‘Contractor workers’ related to the WBPDCL shall in addition to applying online be required to submit a Certificate as per Annexure X, along with copy of the system generated Application Slip duly certified by the concerned Contractor to the related site HR&A department of WBPDCL.

  10. Candidates whose names have been sponsored as ‘Exempted Category’ candidates by the Directorate of Employment Exchange shall only be considered for ‘Exempted Category’ reservation. All candidates sponsored by the Employment Exchanges are required to Apply Online only (www.wbpdcl.co.in) paying requisite application, wherever applicable.

  11. Having successfully registered oneself at the WBPDCL (www.wbpdcl.co.in) website does not entitle one to be eligible to appear for the written test and/or other subsequent test. Candidates need to download the ADMIT CARD which shall only entitle one to appear for the written test. Mere submission of application shall not give right to any candidate to be called for written test / interview and WBPDCL reserves the right not to fill up any or all the posts notified at its discretion. Verification of credentials shall be done prior to conduct of Personal Interview only and in case any deviation from or non-conformity with the desired qualification shall lead to disqualification of once appearing in the subsequent selection process. Having appeared for the written test does not entitle eligibility for Personal Interview / other secondary tests.

  12. Candidature of candidates is liable to be rejected at any stage of the recruitment process or even after recruitment or joining, if any information provided by the candidate is found to be false or is found not to be in conformity with the eligibility criteria so mentioned in the advertisement. Physical Standards:

(b) Weight -> Proportionate to height and age as per medical standard.  Weight will be recorded at the time of physical measurements but the decision on fitness on account of weight will be taken at the time of medical examination.
(c) Eye Sight -> The minimum distant vision should be 6/6 and 6/9 of two eyes without correction i.e. without wearing of glasses. The candidate should possess high Colour Vision.
(d) Medical Standard -> Candidates should not have knock knee, flat foot, varicose vein or squint in eyes, bow legs, inability to close the left eye, Inability to flex the fingers properly and any other obvious deformities. He must be in good mental and bodily health and free from any physical defect likely to interfere with efficient performance of the duties.


Selection Process:


(1) Height Test -> Candidates will be made to pass under a bar which has been put at the minimum height required. Those who pass through under the bar will be rejected
(2) Run -> 5 Kilometers to be completed in 24 minutes.
(3) Physical Standards Test -> Height, chest and weight of the candidate will be recorded. Those who do not meet the eligibility criteria will be rejected.
(4) Identity Check -> The identity of the candidates who qualify will be verified using such means as may be felt necessary.
(5) Documentation -> Documents in support of educational qualifications, domicile and other eligibility criteria, relaxations etc. will be checked. A candidate will be rejected if he fails to produce any document required in support of his eligibility criteria, relaxations etc. Further all certificate/documents should be in the format specified in appendices. Candidates seeking reservation benefits for SC/ST/OBC/Minorities must ensure that they are entitled to such reservation as per eligibility prescribed in the Notice. They should also be in possession of the certificates in the format prescribed by Government of India in support of their claim at the time of the Recruitment.
(6) Written Examination -> Candidate who qualifies in 5 KM Run, Physical Standard Test, Identity Check and documentation will be called for the written examination. The written examination for 100 marks will consist of 100 objective type multiple choice questions to be answered in 120 minutes.
(7) Merit List -> Merit lists in each category (UR/SC/ST & OBC) will be drawn separately in respect of each State/UT on the basis of aggregate marks obtained in the written test. In case of tie in marks, the candidate with older age will be higher in the merit list. Further tie shall be resolved by comparing the height, educational qualification and alphabetical position of the first name in sequence till the tie is resolved. Candidates with more height, higher educational qualification and earlier position of first name in alphabetical order will be placed above.
(8) Final selection -> The final selection of the candidates will be made in order of merit in each category and allotted vacancy to each State. The cut off percentage of marks for appointment will be: General & Ex-servicemen – 35% and SC/ST/OBC – 33%.
(9) Medical Examination -> Candidates who find a place in the select list as per the available vacancy in each category in the state will be called for medical examination. Candidates will be classified as "FIT" or "UNFIT". There is no provision of "Temporary Unfit". Those found fit will be issued offer of appointment.


Application Fee: Rs.50/- for General and OBC Category candidates. The fee in the form of Postal Order drawn in favour of the respective officers where to be applied. SC/ST and Ex-serviceman Candidates are exempted from the fee.
